Facial mesotherapy with vitamins

Micro-injections of vitamins, amino acids and non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin from within and restore its radiance

  • 30-40 minutes

About the treatment

What does it involve?

Facial mesotherapy is a medical treatment for the nourishment and hydration of the skin. A cocktail of vitamins, amino acids, minerals, antioxidants and non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid is injected through very superficial micro-injections across the whole face.

That hyaluronic acid is not the kind used in fillers. Not being cross-linked, it gives no support and projects nothing: it retains water within the dermis and leaves the skin denser, more flexible and better looking. Here the shape of the face is not changed, the quality of the skin covering it is.

Vitamins and amino acids Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid Usually 3 sessions

It is the entry treatment for the man with dull, tight or dehydrated skin: the one who shaves daily, works long hours in air conditioning, trains outdoors, sleeps little or has smoked. Skin that is not working well, without one specific problem to treat.

It is set out in courses of 3 sessions, because the effect is cumulative: each session builds on the previous one and the result is built up over the weeks. It is then maintained with spaced top-up sessions.

It should not be confused with a cleanse. The deep facial cleanse works from the outside: it removes oil, dead cells and blackheads. Mesotherapy works from within, giving the dermis what it needs. They are complementary and the logical order is to cleanse first and nourish afterwards.

Start with a medical assessment. We review your skin and your history, and tell you whether this is what you need or whether your case calls for something else. If it is not needed, we will say so.

What does it involve?

What it improves and when it makes sense

Mesotherapy does not correct volume or sagging: it works on the skin. If what bothers you is the contour or the firmness, the indicated treatment is a different one and we will tell you so at the assessment.

What improves in the skin

  • Deep hydration of the dermis
  • Dull radiance and colour
  • A feeling of tight skin after shaving
  • Rough texture or skin with no glow
  • Fine dehydration lines
  • The fine skin around the eyes
  • A neglected neck and décolletage
  • Skin damaged by sun, tobacco or too little rest

Common reasons for consultation

  • People tell you that you look tired even when you have rested
  • Your skin feels tight and flakes after you shave
  • You notice your face looking matte and lifeless, especially in winter
  • You want to start with something simple before anything bigger
  • You have an event in a few weeks
  • You have never looked after your skin and you want to lay a foundation

What is the session like?

  1. Medical assessment of the skin

We analyse hydration, texture and general condition, and review your medication and allergies.

  2. Choosing the cocktail

The composition is decided according to what your skin lacks: more hydration, more antioxidant, or both.

  3. Cleansing and topical anaesthetic

The face is cleansed and disinfected and an anaesthetic cream is applied for a few minutes.

  4. Micro-injections across the whole face

Very superficial, very fine pricks, spread out in a grid. The forehead, cheeks and eye contour are covered and, where appropriate, the neck.

  5. Calming the area

Cold and a calming product are applied to bring the redness down before you leave.

  6. Session plan

The full course is scheduled, usually 3 sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, along with the maintenance afterwards.

What it aims to achieve

  • Skin that is more hydrated and less tight
  • A face with better colour and more radiance
  • A more even texture to the touch
  • Softer fine dehydration lines
  • Better tolerance of daily shaving
  • A rested look without changing your features
  • No surgery and no recovery
  • A cumulative effect over the course

Care before and after

Before the session

  • Tell us about your medication, allergies and medical history
  • Stop retinoids and acids for 2-3 days beforehand, if you use them
  • Arrive with a clean, freshly shaved face — not shaved on the spot
  • Do not come with cold sores, infected acne or an open wound in the area
  • Avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatories in the 24 hours beforehand

After the session

  • Do not touch or rub your face for the first few hours
  • No make-up or active cosmetics until the next day
  • Avoid intense exercise, saunas and swimming pools for 24-48 hours
  • Daily sunscreen and no direct sun for the first few days
  • Go back to retinoids and acids after 48 hours
  • Drink water as normal: the product works by retaining water

When you leave it is normal to see redness and small raised areas at the injection points, similar to hives: they usually subside within a few hours and disappear within 24 hours. The occasional micro-bruise may also appear, particularly around the eyes. That is why it is best not to leave the session until the day before an event. If you have any concerns, get in touch with us.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

There are many pricks, but they are very superficial and with a very fine needle. An anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand and most people describe it as uncomfortable and manageable rather than painful. The most sensitive areas are the forehead and around the eyes.

Will I leave the clinic with marks on my face?

You leave with a red face and small bumps at the injection points. They subside within a few hours and the next day there is normally nothing. It is not a treatment to have an hour before dinner out.

Why three sessions and not one?

Because the effect is cumulative. A single session hydrates and gives glow for a few days; the course of three, spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, is what achieves a sustained change in skin quality. It is then maintained with top-up sessions.

When is the result noticeable?

The glow and the hydration are apparent in the first few days after each session. The real change in texture and density is seen once the course is complete.

How long does the effect last?

It depends on your skin, your age and your habits. It is usually several months after completing the course, with spaced maintenance so as not to lose what has been achieved.

Will it give me volume or change my face?

No. The hyaluronic acid used here is not cross-linked: it gives no support and no projection. If what you want is to define the oval or correct sagging, that is treated with another technique and we assess it in the consultation.

Can it be combined with other treatments?

Yes, and that is the usual approach. It is often combined with a deep facial cleanse before starting and with texture treatments, respecting the recovery times of each. The order is defined at the assessment.

Is a prior medical assessment needed?

Yes. It is an injectable medical treatment: first your case is reviewed, contraindications are ruled out and then it is decided whether it is indicated.
